Ryan Ebedes

Having been an avid birder since the age of 5, Ryan has travelled extensively over the length and breadth of Southern Africa in search of birds. Some of his fondest memories include scouring the deserted plains of Alexander Bay in search of Barlow's Larks, and seeking out Swynnerton's Robins in the forests of Seldomseen, Zimbabwe.

Photography has allowed him to take his hobby to a new level, and presents new and exciting challenges with every birding experience. Along with his wife Glenice, his images have been featured in the 2009 Struik publication "A field guide to the Wildlife of Southern Africa".

Glenice Ebedes

Glenice began birding when she met Ryan in 2005, and together they have travelled to all corners of Southern Africa. Their honeymoon in Namibia provided the ideal setting to begin her foray into bird photography, and her quest to photograph Dune Larks on the red sand dunes of Sossusvlei remains one of her highlights.

Her photograph of a rare Western Marsh Harrier from Marievale appeared in the 2008 June/July issue of Africa Birds and Birding, as well as the "South African Raptor Guide" by Ulrich Oberprieler and Burger Cillië.

To date, Africa Birds and Birding has also published her Cape Wagtail and Black Collared Barbet.

Her Cape Rock-Jumper from Rooi Els in the Western Cape features in the 2009 Struik publication "A field guide to the Wildlife of Southern Africa".
